(ES) La reconocida artista chilena Mon Laferte ha desarrollado, en paralelo a su carrera musical, una nutrida producción en dibujo, pintura y grabado. En México, donde reside desde el año 2007, realizó la exposición “Gestos” (Museo de la Ciudad de México, 2020) e instalo su propia galería de arte (Mon Laferte Galería de Arte.Tepoztlán, Morenos, 2020) En Chile, cabe señalar su trabajo en Street Art, realizado junto a la dupla de Un Kolor Distinto (Calle Cumming. Valparaíso, 2019)
“Procesión” es la primera exposición individual de Mon Laferte en Chile. Realizar esta actividad en Valparaíso -en medio de una pandemia que ha repercutido gravemente en el quehacer social y cultural, entre otros- implica un logro invaluable para Bahía Utópica. La galería agradece la decisión de la artista por exponer en la ciudad -con la que ha declarado poseer emotivos nexos vivenciales- ya que reactiva el circuito de difusión creativa y de generación de lazos identitarios entre el arte la comunidad.
Su pintura más reciente destaca por la versatilidad y desenfado en la ejecución, en que confluyen diversas vertientes discursivas. En su imaginario ecléctico, la pintura de Mon Laferte posee una clara vocación por lo urbano, por el Street Art y los lenguajes visuales que construyen la epidermis de las ciudades contemporáneas, desde la Gomez Carreño viñamarina hasta el DF mexicano. Estencils, graffitis y pintadas, junto a personajes de variados acervos, se expresan mediante textos, modismos y la emocionalidad de gestos alegres y también melancólicos. A su vez, existe una clara impronta de la tradición latinoamericana, un sentido devocional e intimista en las acciones y espacios. Lo cotidiano y profano, ese espacio de recogimiento, del don por la ofrenda, tan propio del sincretismo latinoamericano y en particular de la tradición de los exvotos mexicanos.
(EN) The well-known Chilean artist Mon Laferte has developed, alongside her music career, a nurtured production of drawing, painting and engraving. In Mexico, where she resides since 2007, exhibited “Gestos” (Museo de la Ciudad de Mexico, 2020) and installed her own art gallery (Mon Laferte Galería de Arte. Tepoztlán, Morenos, 2020). “Procesión” is the first individual exhibition by Mon Laferte in Chile. To develop this activity in Valparaíso- in the middle of a pandemic that has severely affected the social and cultural activity, among others- means a priceless achievement for Bahía Utópica. The gallery appreciates the decision of the artist of exhibiting in the city- which she has declared to have close emotional experiences with- because it reactivates the creative diffusion circuit and the generation of identity bonding between art and the community.
Her most recent painting stands out because if its versatile and confident execution, in which diverse discursive approaches converge. In her eclectic imaginary, the painting by Mon Laferte has a clear avocation for the urban, Street Art and the visual languages that build the skin of the contemporary cities, from the local neighborhood Gomez Carreño from Viña del Mar to the Mexican DF. Stencils, graffiti and brush strokes, together with characters of various heritage, are expressed through text, idioms and emotional gestures, both joyful and melancholic. Besides, there is a clear influence of the Latin-American tradition, a devotional and intimate sense in actions and spaces. The ordinary and the profane, that space of contemplation, the gift in return for the tribute, so typical of the Latin-American syncretism and particularly of the tradition of the Mexican exvotos.
